The Maths of One Missed Spot

Most rhodium losses don’t come from big rejection batches they come from 2mm missed spots that force full re-dips. Each re-plate burns metal, blocks your line, and slows dispatch.

Do the maths on your last rejection batch.

Not the big ones not the pieces that came out of the tank looking wrong. Those are obvious. Those get caught.

Count the ones that went back into the bath because of a tiny spot. A 2mm patch behind a prong. A thin area where a textured surface didn't get enough current. The inside of a jhumka that looked fine from the front but showed base metal from the angle.

Every one of those pieces went back into a full rhodium bath. Full current cycle. Full time. Full metal consumption. For 2mm of missed coverage.

That's the maths nobody tracks.

The Real Cost Isn't the Rhodium; It's the Bottleneck

When a piece goes back into the tank, it's not just the metal you're burning. The plating line stops for that piece. The jig gets re-loaded. Your operator who should be running the next batch is dealing with yesterday's problem. Aur agar stone-set piece hai, toh full dip ka option hi nahi hai.

That's where it gets expensive. Because some pieces simply cannot go back into the bath. Stone-set jewellery. Assembled components. Pieces that have already been polished and are one step from dispatch.

For those, the options narrow quickly: disassemble, re-plate, reassemble or reject.

Neither option is cheap. Neither is fast.

The Pen Plating Option; If It Actually Works Fast Enough

Most finishing departments have tried pen plating at some point. The idea is right targeted application, no need to dip the full piece. But the execution? "Pen plating slow hai, aur finish tank jaisa nahi aata." That's the feedback we've heard across Rajkot, Mumbai, and Coimbatore.

And they're not wrong with most pen solutions, deposition takes minutes, not seconds. The tip wears out fast. The finish looks acceptable but not tank-equivalent. Some solutions produce fumes that make the operator avoid using them altogether.

So the pen sits in the drawer. And pieces keep going back into the tank.

Seconds, Not Minutes. Mirror Finish. No Fumes.

RH2PM is the fastest rhodium pen plating solution in the Precious Alloys portfolio. And the speed changes everything about how pen plating fits into a production workflow.

Deposition in seconds at 11V, room temperature. No pre-heating. No waiting. Touch the spot, lift, done. The piece moves forward.

Mirror-like white finish 99.9% Rh purity, 800–900 HV hardness. Your QC team won't be able to tell the pen-applied spot from the tank-plated surface.

High throwing power that reaches into textured surfaces and undercuts. Jhumka ke andar, filigree ke beech, prong ke peeche jahan tank nahi pahunchta, pen pahunchta hai.

Zero fumes. No operator resistance. No ventilation drama. Ready to use straight from the bottle no mixing, no dilution, 2-year shelf life.

What This Won't Replace

Let's be clear RH2PM is not a substitute for your plating tank. If you're running production volumes, your bath is doing the heavy lifting and it should continue to.

What RH2PM eliminates is the re-dip. The full-cycle re-plate for a small defect. The "kya karein, dubana padega" moment that costs you time, metal, and throughput.

It also won't fix surface preparation issues. If your pre-treatment is inconsistent, no pen solution however fast will give you lasting adhesion. Par agar aapka pre-treatment solid hai aur problem sirf missed coverage hai then RH2PM is the fastest fix available.

Try the Speed Test

Here's our suggestion: take your current pen plating solution and RH2PM side by side. Same piece, same spot size. Time both. Compare the finish under your own QC light.

If the speed difference doesn't change how your finishing department handles touch-ups, fair enough. But if it does you've just found a way to stop the most expensive 2mm habit on your line.
